Ask the Midwife

Kristin Schwartz, APRN, CNM, WHNP-BC

  • I truly felt a calling to become a midwife and provide personalized birth experiences. The joy of seeing couples become parents for the first time and the opportunity to create a memorable pregnancy experience is what drew me to the profession.

  • I’ve been a midwife for over seven years and worked in the hospital and birth center settings. Prior to becoming midwife I practiced for three years as an Oncology nurse.

  • I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas and a dual degree in Midwifery and Women’s Health from Georgetown University. I also have received certifications in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals through the American Heart Association as well as Neonatal Resuscitation through the American Academy of Pediatrics.

  • As a midwife I seek to develop relationships with my patients that are built on trust, compassion, and education. I recognize that each woman is a unique individual with unique needs and deserves personalized care. I prioritize listening to understand my patients’ needs and preferences and their healthcare goals.

  • I have been a part of over 400 births, many of which with minimal or no medications or interventions in a hospital and birth center setting. In addition, I had both of my boys at home and experienced a natural birth myself!
